Office and staff
While the Tribunal’s Office remains open for business, staffing levels remain at a strict minimum due to the current and ongoing restrictions put in place in an effort to try to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. Consequently, it would be preferable that anyone wishing to contact the Tribunal does so by email rather than by telephone. This will hopefully ensure a more prompt response.
Please address all applications and other correspondence to The Clerk at the Tribunal’s headquarters:
The Lands Tribunal for Scotland

Fax: 0131 271 4399

You may also contact the Tribunal by filling in the online enquiry form on this web site.
Office hours and location
The Tribunal office is normally open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.
The office is situated in Central Edinburgh, a few minutes walk from both Waverley and Haymarket railway stations. The location is shown on the map on this page.
The Tribunal has a permanent support staff consisting of the Clerk, Neil Tainsh; a Deputy Clerk, Douglas Ballantyne; and an Administrative Officer, Eli Do Rego. They administer all aspects of the Tribunal’s casework and can advise on the current status of any application as well as dealing with enquiries on aspects of procedure, fees, timescales and so on.
If you would like to meet someone on the Tribunal’s staff to discuss your case, please make an appointment.
NOTE: From 1 April 2015 the above staff are now part of the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service which provides administrative support for courts and tribunals in Scotland. The web site of this service is at www.scotcourtstribunals.gov.uk. This change does not affect the judicial independence of the Lands Tribunal or other tribunals that are now being supported in this way.
